Eating on $5 a Day?

I was wondering today if it were possible to eat a healthy-ish, satisfying, set of meals and snacks for 30 days where the cost of all the food and drink did not exceed $5 a day.

What do you think?

I think it's possible, but would require a lot of creativity.

PS. Tonight was fun.

PPS. The people who have no idea what I am talking about should mind their own business, since it was an intellectual endeavor to which I refer.

drink water, eat stuff you grow o a lot of fruits and veggies.

i read an article in the washington post where they challenged politicians to live off he same amount of money people get on foodstamps. if i recall, they all failed and several were caught sneaking food in suitcases and ordering food on the sly at speaking engagements.

I find that almonds make great satisfying snacks. I carry a bag with me all week, with my travel schedule, I always feel better eating a handful of them instead of chips or french fries.

I just read your little blogger profile! We need to dish about BBC Pride and Predjudice....I love a good Mr. Darcy!

A Massachusetts congressman participated in an experiment recently, trying to live on the alloted amount of food stamps - works out to about $3/day. Here's a link to his blog:
